currently there are two precital way to make salt sunflower seeds in food factory, 
Wet measure
first put  the sunflower seeds into clean salt water for about 10 hours, then take them into the drum of gas roaster or electric roaster for raosting. the electric roaster is better as its temperature cntroling is more precision than gas or other roaster, besides, drum roaster is better than pan roaster, because steam with high temperature in the drum will dry the sunflower seeds better too. when the temperature reach 160'C, take some from the drum to check the quality and the user can decide stop or go on roasting according to its local people habit or likes.for us testing, under the temperature of 170'C, the seeds smell and taste very good. the appearance of the seeds have been change a little, with light golden color. at same time, the moisture is 4-7% in the seed.


Dry measure
cleaning the seeds to remove ghost seeds and other foreign materials. put certain quantity salt into the seeds and mix them for minutes(different region will ahve different requires for the salt, usually 3-5% is good for most people from teh world). starting the roaster, put the mixture into the drum of roaster slowly when the drum is turning.
some people like to drop some sand into the drum together withe sunflower seeds, salt to reach a perfect performance, because more equal for the sand to transfer the heat  tot eh seeds than the drum.
the salt will melt in the drum when the temperature is over 50'C, thus a part of lique salt will cover the appearance of the seeds,when the temperature reach 170'C, the work near over, take some out and check it by the user. a simple cleaning screen used to remove the extra salt.
the life of the drum will reduce as some melted salt that covered on the surface of  the drum will cause rusting during the use.
